I am Renato Brignone, I was born in 1970, disabled, better to say, at those times: handycapped!
My father simply extended to me his passion for mountaineering very soon, so since I was a child I have been practicing trekking, skiing and many other outdoor activities. To tell the truth, I just broke or cracked or shattered so many crutches in my whole life that some might think this is my main activity; but in fact I was just bringing to the limit these horrible but necessary evil of my existence. In theory my crutches were all tested and certified to carry a +100 kgs weight in all conditions, but in fact I was breaking down a pair of them every bloody year. Even when I reached the Monte Rosa tops, up to the Capanna Margherita and the Zumstein peak, that’s about 4600 meters on ice and snow, my crutches failed to bring me home, on my way back. Let’s say, I have got acquainted with my disability in life, but I have been ceaselessly sick of these fragile tools.
Now you probably understand why after having been looking around for the perfect crutches for so many years I ended up creating them by myself.

Titanium is a rare, high-performance metal, that is mainly used in the most advanced technological constructions, such as aeronautics, space engineering, extreme sports and, from now on, in the structure of the TOMPOMA crutches. Strong and resistant as steel, but much lighter, rustproof and tenacious, requires high-tech machineries for its lavoration but the final performances are astonishing. The innovative regulation system avoids holes and pivots which wear off or work loose in time creating squeaks and creaks and other annoying noises. TOMPOMA’s locking rings derived from cycling industry allow a perfect stability of the joints.
TOMPOMA has a unique system of regulation: nobody else can offer you such a perfect adjustment. Locking rings, eliminating predetermined leves of regulation, allow a millimiter-adjustable height both under and over the grip! You may also choose between three different sizes of the open half cuff to adjust your forearm as comfortable as possible, exactly how you need it.
TOMPOMA has the best finishings ever conceived for crutches. The grip is in pure genuine leather to give you a comfortable, tender and nonskid gloves-like hold; no plastic nor rubber parts, causing perspiration, galls, corns and pains due to the continuous rubbing . TOMPOMA has its safety certified! Standard approvals require a minimum 100 kgs. capacity of weight tolerance. TOMPOMA has been tested successfully up to 140 kgs., but we prefer to guarantee you a “careful” 110 kgs. limit. We applied the load of 120 kgs. 1 million times to test its resistance: no failures reported!
